Fiber optics is more affordable than you think
We work with both multi-mode and single mode fiber optic cable. Because of its high capacity and reliability, multi-mode fiber is generally used for backbone applications covering one or many floors of a highrise building or large campus. Multi-mode fiber links have a data rate up to 10 Gbit/s, and are capable of spanning lengths of up to 2,000 ft.
Used mostly in higher-end laser source equipment, single-mode fiber is better at retaining the fidelity of a single light pulse over longer distances. Therefore, a single-mode fiber has a higher bandwidth capability and can span longer distances. However, due to its smaller core, single-mode fiber connections are typically more difficult to use and cost more than multi-mode fiber connections.
Choosing the cable that best suits your network demands is an important task for every network designer, and we will be happy to help you make the right choice.
